Lab Building

Orrery

Today a school asks an educational psychologist for training by email, waits, explains the situation again on the phone, and gets slides built from scratch that are rarely updated. Orrery starts from what is happening in the school, in a sentence or two. It suggests the sessions that fit, shapes one around the situation, and shows the plan, the EP time and the slides before anything is booked. A school can also run a session itself with a ready kit, and talk part of it through with an educational psychologist.

The idea we are testing

1Start from the school, not the slidesA sentence about what staff are seeing is enough. The plan, what staff will be able to do and the timings follow from it.
2Slides that keep up with the researchOne button checks every slide against Lumipedia and shows each change side by side before anything is changed.
3Know whether it helpedStaff answer three questions before the session and two weeks after, and the service sees what schools ask for.

Where it is now

There is nothing to try yet. We are shaping it with the people it is for, and will show it once it works.

When it is ready, it graduates into a product or service.

Who it is for

SENCos and school leaders

Plan training from what is happening this term, see the cost before booking, or run it yourselves.

Educational psychologists

A brief and a ready pack for each request, and slides that stay current.

EP services

What schools ask for, where requests wait, and whether training changed anything.

Taking part

We are looking for schools and EP services in England to try it this year. If that is you, get in touch.
