What Bounded Basketball keeps, where it is kept and for how long. Written for coaches, families and club committees.
In short
- The lessons, games and search work on your phone or computer. You do not need an account or to give your name.
- The site does not use cookies or advertising, and it does not follow you from page to page.
- To use the Ask tab, a coach signs in with their email address. We keep the email address, the club and how many questions have been asked. We do not keep the text of the questions on our servers.
- Notes about players and progress cards stay on the coach’s phone. When a coach sends a card to a family, the card travels inside the link and does not pass through our server.
- Film your shot reads the video on the phone. The video is never uploaded and the app does not keep it.
- Please do not put players’ names or details in your questions. The assistant does not need them to help.
What stays on your device
Your browser keeps a few choices and settings on this device only. We do not receive them.
- The role you chose: player, parent, coach or club.
- Your display settings: appearance (light or dark), text size, reduce motion and language.
- Stars from the games and the lessons you have seen.
- The icon you chose for the installed app.
- From Film your shot: the age, ball and ring you chose, and the numbers from shots you kept for next week (no video or picture).
- Your recent conversation in Ask, so it is not lost if you reload the page. Signing out deletes it.
- A coach’s players, notes and progress cards, cards a family has received, and the club selection policy template (see below).
In Settings, ‘Erase what’s kept on this device’ removes all of this. You can also delete it in your browser’s settings, under site data.
Home challenges
The coach sends families a link. The link holds the drill, the age group, the days and the coach’s note, in a part of the address that your browser does not send to our server.
The player does not create an account or type their name. The days done, the prediction and the result stay only on the phone where the challenge was opened. The button to tell the coach opens WhatsApp with a message already written, and the family decides whether to send it.
Progress cards and team places
A coach can note, on their own phone, what each player does in sessions: a first name or shirt number, an age group if they want one, ratings in six areas and short notes. From these they can build a progress card.
All of this stays in the browser storage on that phone. We do not receive it or keep it.
When the coach sends a card to a family, the card’s contents are compressed and placed inside the link itself, in the part of the address after the # sign. Browsers do not send that part to our server, so the card never passes through us and is never stored by us.
Anyone who has the link can read the card. Only send it to the player’s family.
A family can keep the cards they receive on their own phone. There too, they stay only in that device’s browser.
The club selection policy template, which helps explain team places, is edited and kept only on the phone of the person filling it in.
Film your shot
A grown-up films the player shooting, or chooses a video already on the phone. The app reads the video inside the browser on that phone, using a pose model (Google’s MediaPipe) that is downloaded from boundeduncertainty.com. It finds points on the body, such as shoulders, elbows and knees, in each frame and works out a few angles and timings.
The video is not uploaded to us or to anyone else, and the app does not keep it. When you leave the page, it is gone from the app; the original stays in your phone’s gallery if it was there.
If you tap ‘Keep for next week’, the app keeps on that phone only the date, the focus chosen, a few numbers (angles and timings) and a simple stick figure made of body points, with no face and no picture. ‘Delete saved shots’ removes them.
‘Copy for the coach’ copies a short text with the focus and the numbers. You decide whether to send it.
We count, without cookies, that the page was used and which focus came out, in the same way as other sections (see below).
Coach codes
Ricardo can give a coach a code that adds their email address to a test club. The code only works once the coach has signed in with their email.
Our server keeps the code and how many uses it has left. When the code is used, the coach’s email address is added to that club’s list of members, in the same way as when a club manager adds a coach.
Counting visits without cookies
To find out which parts of the site are useful, we count how many times each section appears on screen each day, and how many home challenges are opened and finished. Each record holds only the date, the name of the section and a total.
We do not keep your IP address, any identifiers or any details about your device. If your browser asks not to be tracked (Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control), we do not count anything.
When you use Ask
In the Ask tab, a coach types a question and the assistant answers. The question goes to our server and from there to the model that writes the answer.
| What we keep | Email address, club, role in the club (manager or coach), number of questions each day and each month, the cost of each question and, for coaches without a club, how many free questions they have used. |
|---|---|
| What we do not keep | The text of the questions and answers. |
| Signing in | An email with a button to sign in, or a code. The sign-in service records the date and IP address of each sign-in, for security. |
| Where it is kept | Supabase, in a data centre in Frankfurt, in the European Union. |
| Who can see it | The club manager can see the email addresses of the club’s coaches and the total number of questions. They cannot see the questions. |
Before a question leaves our server, we remove names, email addresses and phone numbers. There is a limit on questions each day and each month. If a message mentions a risk to a child or to anyone else, the assistant replies with a fixed message about where to get help, and that message is not sent to the model.
The model that answers
Answers are written by Claude, a model made by Anthropic, a company based in the United States. The question is processed on Anthropic’s servers while the answer is written.
- Under Anthropic’s commercial terms, questions are not used to train models.
- Anthropic deletes questions and answers within 30 days. It may keep them for longer when it needs to check that its usage rules are being followed, or when the law requires it.
- The transfer to the United States is covered by Anthropic’s data processing agreement.
Other services
- Payments: club subscriptions are paid through Stripe. Card details go straight to Stripe and never pass through us.
- Fonts: the site loads fonts from Google Fonts. When it does, your browser shares your IP address with Google.
- Hosting: the web server keeps technical access logs (IP address, date, page requested), as any website does.
Children and young people
Children use the lessons and games without an account and without typing anything about themselves. The assistant is for adult coaches. A coach’s notes about a player use only a first name or shirt number, and stay on that coach’s phone. The example players on the site are made up.
How long we keep it
Account details are kept while the club has a subscription. We delete them if you ask, or 12 months after the subscription ends. If you have only used the free questions, we delete your details 12 months after your last question.
Anything kept on your device stays there until you delete it.
